# The Canvas

> The canvas is GraphDeck's workspace for viewing and building node graphs - this page covers pan/zoom/selection navigation and the mode strip for switching between Blueprints, Materials, Widgets, and other node systems.

The canvas is your workspace for viewing and building node graphs.

## Navigation

- Pan with middle mouse button drag, or hold Space + left mouse drag
- Zoom with the scroll wheel
- Select by left-clicking a node. Shift+click adds to selection. Drag to box-select
- Move selected nodes by dragging them

## Modes

GraphDeck supports multiple node systems. Switch between them using the mode strip at the top of the window:

- Blueprints: Unreal Engine Blueprint visual scripting (full pipeline: generate, deploy, enrich)
- Materials: Unreal Engine Material editor graphs (full pipeline: generate, deploy, enrich)
- Widgets: UMG event graphs with a live widget preview on the canvas (generate, paste into the UMG Designer)
- More coming: additional node-based systems on the way

Each mode loads its own node library and uses the appropriate rendering style. Blueprints and Materials have full end-to-end support including AI generation, one-click deploy, and project enrichment. Widgets adds a floating live preview of your widget hierarchy that updates as the graph changes.
